Good Manufacturing Practice

It may appear strange that a medical courier service should have to abide by Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP). The GMP not only covers the manufacture of Medicine and the processing of blood products, but also the distribution and delivery of those products. That’s where it applies to us.

GMP controls how we handle and carry items, the confidentiality of all products we carry. Something we take very seriously.

All of us involved with the charity has to refresh ourselves at least yearly by taking a GMP ‘quiz’ to make sure we are all fully up to date.

Blood samples are usually given to us in a dedicated plastic bag, we then put that bag into our ‘Diagnostic Sample Container’ inside our panniers.

Blood products and packed by the lab or blood bank into a dedicated insulated carrier that we strap onto the bike.
